Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bagley Ties Single Game Saves Record Against Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, VA – After a short home stand, the Regent University Women's Soccer team was back on the road for a mid-week game at Southern Virginia University.  The Royals were still dealing with the injury bug and were down to only 10 players. With the injuries, Freshman Vera Bagley (Suffolk, VA) would get her first collegiate start in the goal, and her teammates were ready to rally around her.  They knew they had a hill to climb but as impressive as the defense has been lately, Regent had a reason to feel confident.

Playing with only 10 on the field, the Royals dug In early and withstood the Knights' offense as Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA), Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA) and Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) held the line early in the first half.  However, Southern Virginia was eventually able to breakthrough and at the half Regent trailed 4-0.  In the second half, Bagley faced a number of shots, but she showed that even in her first ever start, she was prepared for the challenge.  In fact, even in defeat (8-0), she solidified herself in the record books by tying Junior Kristen Miller's (Peoria, AZ) All-Time Single Game Saves Record with 17 saves.

The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, October 25th when they host Virginia State University on Senior Day.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
