Royals Honor Seniors With Shutout Win Over MACU

Norfolk, VA – On Saturday night the Regent University Men's Soccer team honored its five Seniors before the Royals final home game of the season against Mid-Atlantic Christian University.  It was one final opportunity for the Regent fans to see Seniors Caswell Baylis (Virginia Beach, VA), Loyd Shelton (Franklin, VA), Connor Bailey (Powhatan, VA), Drew Thomas (Lynchburg, VA) and Graylan Gill (Beaverdam, VA) up close and from the opening kick-off they put on their best offensive performance of the season.  In addition, Shelton recorded his second shutout of his collegiate career, while Junior Yann Olivier Kamga (Woodbridge, VA) became the program's All-Time Single Season Goal Scorer with his 9th goal of the season after scoring two on the day, helping the Royals defeat the Mustangs by a final score of 5-0.

Senor Highlights 

Caswell Baylis 

Baylis, from Virginia Beach, VA is currently a midfielder for the Royals.  This season, Caswell has appeared in 9 games, tallying 154 minutes to go along with his 3 shots on goal.  Baylis will graduate this Spring with a degree in Computer Science and hopes to begin a career in Computer Network Architecture.   

Loyd Shelton 

Shelton, from Franklin, VA has appeared in 11 games during his career at Regent and has been a pivotal part of the Royals team for 4 years, helping to earn a shoutout win this season over Mid-Atlantic Christian.  Loyd will graduate with a degree in Education and hopes to work as a teacher and one day become a Coach.    

Connor Bailey 

Bailey, from Powhatan, VA has appeared in 29 games, while starting in 20 of them during his career at Regent.  As a Defender, Bailey has been a part of four shutout wins, while logging over 1,100 playing minutes.  In addition, during his 3 years as a Royal, Connor has been named to the Dean's List each year and is a part of the Regent Honors Program. Connor will graduate with a degree in Cyber Security with a Minor in Computer Science and plans on exploring his option in the military or law enforcement to pursue a career as either a Digital Forensics Specialist or a System's Analyst.   

Drew Thomas  

Thomas, a 2-year Team Captain from Lynchburg, VA, has appeared in 51 games, while starting in 50 of them during his career at Regent.  Even though he is a Defender, Drew has tallied 5 goals and 3 assists, while logging over 3,700 playing minutes over his career.  Thomas will graduate with a degree in Biophysical Science with a focus in Medicine and a Minor in Psychology and plans on working as a Scribe to get the required hours to apply for PA School.  His career goal is to become a Pediatric Physician's Assistant with a focus on Surgical Oncology.   

Graylan Gill  

Gill, a two-year Captain from Beaverdam, VA, has appeared in 51 games, while starting 48 of them during his career with Regent.  Known for his ability to score off a free kick, Graylan has 8 career goals and 8 career assists, while logging over 3,200 minutes on the field.  Gill will graduate with a degree in Business Management and plans to become a designer and installer in the Fire Sprinkler Industry, while helping his father start a business.          

The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, November 1st when they travel to Charlotte, NC to face Johnson & Wales University.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
