Salisbury, MD – After a 10-day layoff, the Regent University Men's Soccer team traveled over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel towards Maryland for an afternoon match-up with Salisbury University. The Royals were dealing with a few injuries causing Coach Jared Welsh to shuffle his lineup. His team has proven all season long that they can handle adversity and that is what they have been preaching all week. While it was not the ideal situation Regent wanted to be in, they took the field with a purpose to not only compete but to come together as a team.
In the first half the Seagulls got on the board early, but the Royals settled down defensively shutting down scoring opportunities. Senior Graylan Gill (Beaverdam, VA) was able to fire a shot off, but at the half Regent trailed 3-0. The second half displayed the disruptive defense that the Royals are known for, but they could not break through and as the final horn sounded Regent would fall by a final score of 5-0.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, October 11th when they travel through the tunnel to face Christopher Newport University. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
