Roanoke, VA – Wednesday afternoon saw the Regent University Women's Soccer team wrap up a three-game road trip with a match at Hollins University.  The Royals have been accustomed to being on the road this season, but the past few weeks they have come together and played some of their best defense of the year.  However, today with the addition of some new players, they were hoping to create a few early offensive opportunities.   

Hollins started the first half trying to breakthrough the Regent defense, but Senior Marissa Crawley (Charlotte, NC) and Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA) shut them down, which led to their first run of the game as Junior Anna Teague (Salisbury, NC) was able to find her way through the Hollins defense.  Both teams would trade positions for the next 15 minutes as Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) stood tall in the net turning away the Hollins offense, while newly added Junior Ally Lejarza (Houston, TX) came in the game to help create some scoring chances.  The two teams continued to have opportunities and at the half the score was tied, 0-0. 

In the second half, the Royals offense came alive as Junior Sierra Smullen (Snow Hill, MD), Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) and Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA) each created scoring chances.  At the other end of the field, Miller and the defense picked up where they left off in the first 45 minutes, and they continued their strong play all the way to the final horn, earning the draw, 0-0. 

Regent will be back in action on Friday, October 10th when they host Salisbury University at the Virginia Beach, Sportsplex.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
