Washington, D.C. - After an opening day win in the Tristen Torbett Classic, the Regent University Men's Soccer team had a quick turnaround as they faced Mid-Atlantic Christian University on Day Two of the Classic.  The two teams are no strangers to each other, having played on numerous occasions and today would be no different.  However, the Royals were looking to head back to the Beach with another victory to start the first weekend of the season on a positive note.
Regent wasted no time getting on the board as Sophomore Austin Johns (Middleburgh, NY) found a streaking Junior Yann-Olivier Kamga (Woodbridge, VA) just under three minutes into the game to take the lead, 1-0.  After some back-and-forth, the Royals would strike again as Freshman John Scholefield (Virginia Beach, VA) was assisted by Kamga and Senior Graylan Gill (Hanover, VA) off a throw-in for the second goal of the game.  Kamga would add one more goal before the half, converting on a shot from 10 yards out, to go into the break leading 3-0.
Kamga picked up where he left off, scoring his third goal of the game for the hat trick, just five minutes into the second half, after getting an assist from Junior Isaiah Morris (Harrisonburg, VA).  Morris then added a goal of his own and as the horn sounded Regent would defeat the Mustangs for their second win of the Classic, 5-0.
The Royals were led by Kamga who finished with three goals and 1 assist.  In addition, Junior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA), Senior Lloyd Shelton (Franklin, VA) and Junior Trevor Grosch (Chesapeake, VA) combined for the shutout in goal.
Regent will be back in action on Friday, September 5th when they travel to Fredericksburg, VA for their first Coast-To-Coast Conference game with Nationally Ranked Mary Washington University.
