Lynchburg, VA – On Saturday afternoon the Regent University Men's Soccer team made the four-hour trip west to face the University of Lynchburg in a non-conference match-up. The Royals were coming in having never beaten Lynchburg, who is picked to win the ODAC, however, they were prepared to go toe-to-toe with the Hornets on their home field.
Junior Trevor Grosch (Chesapeake, VA) would get his first start this season in goal for Regent and he began the game with solid saves. Unfortunately, Lynchburg was able to capitalize on a few cross opportunities and midway through the first half they led 3-0 and that would be the score at the half. The second half began with another Hornets' goal and unfortunately when the final buzzer sounded the Royals would fall by a final score of 9-0.
Regent will be back in action on Tuesday, September 16th when they return home to host Mary Baldwin University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
