Edmiston's 35-Yard Goal Helps Regent Draw With William Peace

Virginia Beach, VA – After a week long road trip, the Regent University Women's Soccer team was back in the friendly surroundings of the 757 as they hosted William Peace University.  Today's match-up was played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex a day after a fierce coastal storm.  However, the Royals were looking to start their four-game homestand with a win to build off the momentum they had created last week.

Both teams were able to create scoring chances in the first half, but the two defenses shut each other down.  Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) continued her strong play in goal as she directed Regent's defense and turned away three scoring opportunities for the Pacers to send the teams into halftime with the score tied 0-0.  Nine minutes into the second half, the Royals were able to capitalize on one of their chances, when Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) scored her first ever collegiate goal as she drilled a 35-yard shot past the keeper, in the upper right corner, to put Regent out in front, 1-0.  However, five minutes later, William Peace was able bounce a corner kick across the line to tie the score and as the final horn sounded, the game would end in a draw 1-1.

Regent will be back in action on Saturday, September 20th when they host Greensboro College.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
