Virginia Beach, VA – Over the last few games, the Regent University Women's Soccer team has been improving on both sides of the field, especially its defense. On Saturday night, in front of the home crowd, the Royals showcased that defense against Greensboro College, who is considered one of the top teams in the USA South Conference. While they did not come away with a win, Regent proved that they could play with anyone they take the field against, only falling tonight by a final score of 1-0.
Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) had a solid night in the goal as she finished with 12 saves, while fellow Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA) and Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA) anchored a defense that denied the Pride numerous scoring opportunities. In addition, Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) played one of her best games defensively, while Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA) worked to get the offense a chance to tie the game.
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, September 24th when they host Columbia College (SC). Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
