Lexington, VA – After a big win this past week in the pouring rain, the Regent University Men's Soccer team was back on the road Saturday afternoon for a non-conference match-up with Washington & Lee University. The two teams had never met on the pitch before, but the Royals were very familiar with teams from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. It would be a test, as Regent was trying to even up their season record.
The first half was a defensive struggle and Junior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) stood strong in goal turning away a number of shots. That success sent the teams into halftime with the Royals only trailing, 1-0. The second half saw the Generals continue to pressure the Regent defense and eventually they were able to breakthrough, as Regent fell by a final score 7-0.
Henriques finished with 11 total saves, while Freshman Yann-Olivier Kamga (Woodbridge, VA) led the Royals' offensive chances.
Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, September 24th when they travel to Buena Vista, VA to face Southern Virginia University. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
