Norfolk, VA – The story of Wednesday night for the Regent University Women's Soccer team was their defense. Each game they have been stepping up and turning away numerous scoring opportunities, allowing the Royals a chance to be in the game. In fact, for some stretches Regent was forced to play with only 10 players but that did not stop them from keeping things close. While they would fall to Columbia College (SC), the defensive effort kept the score tied at the half, before eventually giving up two second half goals for a final of 2-0.
Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA) and Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA) anchored the defense and continually pushed back the Koalas' offensive. In addition, Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) was consistent in cutting off any crossing opportunities Columbia tried to create. In goal, Junior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) turned away 14 shots which was her fourth game of the season with double-digit saves.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, September 27th when they host Johnson & Wales University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30pm.
