Virginia Beach, VA – The rain held off just enough to guarantee a dry afternoon as the Regent University Women's Soccer team hosted Conference foe Johnson & Wales University on Saturday afternoon. The Royals were fighting through injuries and at times had to play a man down, but that did not prevent them from going toe-to-toe with the Wildcats. Unfortunately, Regent was unable to find the back of the net and would fall to Johnson & Wales by a final score of 3-0.
Fighting through pain, Freshman Vera Bagley (Suffolk, VA) delivered a gutsy performance working to create offensive opportunities. In addition, Junior Anna Teague (Salisbury, NC), Junior Sierra Smullen (Snow Hill, MD) and Freshman Sarah Brownell (Virginia Beach, VA) were able to control some of the play across midfield, which produced some aggressive runs. On the defensive end, Junior Rhyan Primmer (Stafford, VA), Sophomore Serenity Cortez (Fresno, CA) and Freshman Lianne Edmiston (Dallas, OR) anchored a defense that turned away a number of Wildcat runs.
The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1st when they travel to the mountains of North Carolina to face Warren Wilson College. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30pm.
