Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Regent Sweeps The Day To Win The Inaugural Royals Roundup

Norfolk, VA – For years the Regent University Women's Volleyball team has been working to prove that they belong in the conversation of DIII college volleyball.  Just two years ago, the Royals earned a trip to the NCCAA National Tournament in Missouri after winning their first ever Regional Championship.  Last year, they hosted the South Region Tournament.  However, this year it is different.  Regent is now an NCAA DIII institution and a member of the Coast-To-Coast Conference.  Just last week in their first DIII Invitational, the Royals finished second overall and this weekend, they hosted their first every DIII Invitational, known as the Royals Roundup.  After earning their first ever conference win yesterday over Warren Wilson College, on day one of the Roundup, Regent would put together two sweeps on day two over Mary Baldwin University and Christendom College to be crowned the over Royals Roundup winner.

On the day, Freshman Rylee Stewart (Newport News, VA) dished out a total of 49 assists, which now gives her an average of 9.83 assists/set.  That is good enough to currently lead the Coast-To-Coast Conference in that statistical category.  In addition, Junior Erin Saunders (Danville, VA) had a productive day at the net recording a two-game game total of 25 kills to go along with her 5 service aces. She currently leads the Conference in kills with 91.  Freshman Annalise Todd (Raleigh, NC) had her best collegiate game this young season with 8 kills against the Crusaders.  The southpaw showed today that she is another power hitter Regent can rely on.  On the receiving side, Sophomore Madison Hardiman (Memphis, TN), who is currently second overall in the Coast-To-Coast in overall digs, finished the day with a total of 21.

There were many other solid performances as Freshman Keira Anderson (Leland, NC) came in against Christendom and scored numerous points on her jump serve, while Sophomore Alaina Braun-Duin (Stephens City) finished the day with 19 kills and 20 digs.  Also, fellow Freshmen Emma Kristiansen (Sparta, NJ) and Daily Davis (Bristow, VA) turned in solid performances on the day with Kristiansen recording 7 kills, while Davis dished out 12 assists.  In addition, Senior Eliana Winn (Albuquerque, NM) was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Royals will be back in action on September 10th when they make the short five-minute drive down I-64 to face Virginia Wesleyan University.  First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm.
