Norfolk, VA - After playing their first six games of the season on the road, the Regent University Men's Soccer team was finally able to step on their home field as they hosted Greensboro College, our of the USA South Conference. Â
After the Pride built a 3-0 advantage in the opening 45 minutes, the Royals battled and generated several opportunities after halftime, as they produced four of their five shots in the second half and earned four corner kicks during the period. Freshman Samuel Green (Fredericksburg, VA) provided a spark off the bench, placing both of his shots on goal, while fellow Freshmen Jones Ferguson (San Antonio, TX) and David Gillespie (Odessa, FL) each added a shot on target. Regent put together one of its strongest stretches midway through the second half, forcing saves on attempts from Ferguson and Green while generating three corner kicks in less than three minutes.Â
Defensively, Senior Connor Henriques (Sporsylvania, VA) made six saves before Senior Trevor Grosch (Chesapeake, VA) entered in the second half and added two more, giving the Royals eight saves on the afternoon.
Regent will be back in action on September 22nd when they travel to Fayetteville, NC to face Methodist University. Kick-off is set for 6:00pm.
