Regent Concludes NC Road Swing At Greensboro College

Greensboro, NC - The Regent University Women's Soccer team concluded their three day trip to the Tarheel State with a match-up against Greensboro College on Wednesday afternoon.  This was the fifth time the two teams have met and the Royals would play a strong defensive second half holding the Pride scoreless over the final 45 minutes, despite falling by a final score of 4-0.

Freshman Evie Munroe (Wilmington, NC) saw her second collegiate action when she entered to begin the second half, where she turned away all seven shots on goal she faced.  Those saves helped Regent keep Greensboro off the scoreboard for the entire 45 minutes.  The Royals' defense was tested early after halftime, but Munroe immediately answered the challenge with saves in the 47th and 48th minutes. She continued to come up with stops throughout the half, including saves in the 57th, 69th, 74th, 82nd and 87th minutes.

Regent also generated their best offensive opportunity of the afternoon in the 65th minute when Sophomore Kylie Gaines (Ramsuer, NC) put a shot on goal, forcing the Pride goalkeeper to make the save.  Senior Kristen Miller (Peoria, AZ) started in goal for the Royals and recorded four saves during the opening half, giving Regent 11 total saves between Miller and Munroe. The Royals' second-half defensive effort was effective, as they faced 12 Greensboro shots after halftime without surrendering a goal.

Regent will be back in action on Wednesday, October 7th when they travel to Petersburg to face Virginia State University.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
