Chester, PA - The Regent University Men's Soccer team concluded its early-season weekend road trip Saturday evening, facing Widener University. Head Coach
Jared Welsh also made his return to Quick Stadium, as he was an Assistant with the program before taking over the reigns in Virginia Beach.
Despite the final score of 5-0, the Royals showed flashes offensively throughout the night. Freshman Salvador Rendon (Chesapeake, VA) created Regent's first opportunity just 3:41 into the match, putting a shot on frame that forced a save from the Pride goalkeeper. Regent finished the contest with four shots, including attempts from Freshman John Adams (Chesapeake, VA), Freshman Collin Pennington (Ocean City, MD), Freshman Toby Tracht (Cantonsville, MD) and Rendon.
Defensively, Regent's goalkeepers were called upon throughout the contest. Senior Connor Henriques (Spotsylvania, VA) made two saves during his time in goal before Freshman Sebastian Carmenates (McLean, VA) entered in the second half and added two saves of his own.
The Royals will be back in again when they travel south to face North Carolina Wesleyan University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
