Two More School Records Fall For Royals At The Eastern Shore Challenge

Salisbury, MD – After a trip across the 17-mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on Saturday morning, the Regent University Men's and Women's Track & Field team arrived in Maryland to compete in the Eastern Shore Challenge.  So far this season a number of School Records have already fallen, while two Royals have qualified for the NCCAA National Championships.  This was another opportunity for Regent to showcase their team and improve on this season's success.   

The day began with Sophomore Shylah Wells (Youngsville, NC) finishing the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 12.80M, the Shot Put at 6.16M and then she would set a Personal Record in the High Jump with a height of 1.22M.  Meanwhile, in the Men's High Jump, Junior Kevin Cropper (Oak Hall, VA) tied his own School Record with a height of 1.95M, which tied him for first place in the event and then he would go on to break the School Record in the Triple Jump with a distance of 13.83M.  In the Men's Javelin Throw, Junior Lucas Hubbard (Newtown, PA) led the way with a distance of 40.79M, which was followed by Junior Ernest Park III (Bentonville, AR) at 30.12M, Junior Evan Pond (Powhatan, VA) with a Personal Record of 27.72M and Freshman Jaxon Sawyer (Virginia Beach, VA) at 14.97M.  Pond would lead the Royals in the Discus with a throw of 30.61M, while Hubbard threw a distance of 25.87M and Park finished at 24.11M.  To finish out the Field Events, Park set a Personal Record in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.10M and Sawyer came in at 6.72.  

On the Track side, Freshman Thomas Slingluff (Suffolk, VA) set a School Record in the Men's 1500M, running at time of 4:23.07 and he was followed by Sophomore Aaron Jacobs (Stafford, VA) who finished at 4:36.00. They would also compete in the 800M with Slingluff coming in at 2:08.66 and Jacobs finishing at 2:16.73.  In addition, Freshman Samantha Bodnar (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) finished the Women's 1500M at 5:52.17.  A Personal Record was set by Freshman Sophia Moritz (Virginia Beach, VA) in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 16.69 as she finished 3rd and finished 2nd in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:09.3, while Freshman Jacob Winck (Breezewood, PA) finished 4th in the 110M Hurdles with a time of 17.97 and Freshman Adam Baugus (Virginia Beach, VA) ran the 100M at 12.81.  Winck would also set a Personal Record in the 200M at 24.25, while Baugus finished at 26.47.   

Regent will be back in action on Saturday April 26th when they travel to Petersburg to participate in the VSU Invitational.  The action begins at 10:00am.
