Greenville, SC - After a three week competition, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has announced that the 1/24/25 buzzer beater by Men's Basketball Sophomore
Antoine Brown (Chesapeake, VA) against Mid-Atlantic Christian University has been voted the National Play of the Year. In each of the three rounds, Brown received enough votes to advance, ultimately winning in the final round. The path to winning was not easy, as Brown faced fellow Regent Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete
Madison Hardiman (Memphis, TN) in an all Royals finals, which garnered over 600 total votes. In fact, the outcome was not decided until the final minute as Brown and Hardiman were only separated by four total votes.
The highlighted play occurred at home on 1/24/25 in a game against Mid-Atlantic Christian University. With the game tied at 80-80, and only .8 seconds remaining, Brown took a cross court inbound pass from Junior
Micah Eastman (Virginia Beach, VA) and quickly put up a deep three, draining it for the win at the buzzer. After the shot went in, the home bench cleared, and Regent made their way to the student section to celebrate the win, 83-80.
Hardiman's runner-up Play of the Year occurred during the Bob Jones Invitational in a game against Clinton College. During a rally, the Bears placed a kill towards the Royals' back line for a sure point, however, with her body falling, Hardiman extended her leg and kicked the ball in the air, allowing her teammates to hit it over the net for the point.
All plays are submitted to the NCCAA by representatives from member schools or are taken from streams of NCCAA National Championship events on the NCCAA Network. Five plays are chosen by the NCCAA national office for inclusion in Plays of the Month.
As Regent moves into the NCAA, this caps off a great year for all Royals Atheltics. Thank you to all the Regent supporters who voted each round and who rallied behind these two deserving Student-Athletes.
